A video machine where every fact is checked

running Sep 2026 to now · See the study library

The question. Can one person turn a research paper into a fact-checked 50 second video where every fact on screen traces to a checked source?

what I built

A pipeline that keeps a verified paper index, writes a script, records an AI voice, renders the video and refuses to render anything still marked draft. Each paper also gets a plain language study page. The same script can be rendered in five visual styles.

Remotion · React · TypeScript · OpenAI TTS · ffmpeg · static HTML

what happened

  • 117 verified papers in the index, each checked against the abstract and the full text, with 14 to 20 facts per paper.
  • About 55 percent of about 150 candidate papers passed checking. One headline result had been corrected to non-significant in a later letter, and that paper was dropped.
  • 98 videos rendered and 119 study pages and links live.
  • One paper rendered in 5 styles, at about 4 minutes per render.

what broke

  • A finding that meant higher risk was shown as a green bar. It was caught and fixed before the page went to the authors.
  • A server reset wiped the hosted videos once, and they had to be uploaded again.

decision

Verification is the bottleneck at about 10 to 15 minutes per paper, not ideas. The machine stays and is reused for new video work.
